Books I Love: Allison Hewitt Is Trapped
I just finished this book yesterday. Actually, I read about 90% of it yesterday. With my days off, I like to delve into entire books head-first and swim in them until I drown. I drowned in this one all too happily.
The premise is, Allison Hewitt is an English grad-student working in a bookstore when the Zombie Apocalypse occurs. She and some coworkers and customers lock themselves into a back office, and from there, it’s all about survival and the tenacity of the human spirit. Allison manages to connect to the internet (this is totes what I would do in the Zombie Apocalypse, ngl) so she can blog about her experiences and see if there are others alive Out There. Things go from bad to worse as she battles zombies, thieves, squirrels, Christian housewives, zombies, the Wal-mart militia, herself, sometimes her friends, and more zombies. Also, the titles of the chapters are pretty awesome—I’ll let you figure out why.
PLEASE give this book a read. I laughed my ass off, I was reduced to open-mouthed shock more times than any other book can induce, and I was more than a little inspired by the ax-wielding, spunky, smart-mouthed heroine, who eerily reminded me a lot of myself. She even gets to drive a Chevy Cavalier.
Five out of five stars.
Okay:
1) I AM TOTALLY GONNA READ THIS NOW. No, like, for reals, I’ve been dying for books to read, and this is totally hitting that sweet spot for me right now
